Title: Artificial Intelligence Meets Quality Improvement: Smarter Systems for Safer Care
Facilitator: Amol Verma, MD, MPhil, FRCPC
Description: Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming how healthcare problems are understood and solved. In this interactive one-hour workshop, participants will explore key principles behind AI technologies, engage directly with an AI tool to experience its capabilities and limitations, and discuss practical applications for quality improvement in their own settings. Together, we will consider how AI can support smarter systems, safer care, and more efficient approaches to improvement work.
Workshop B:
Title: Designing With, Not For: Co-Design as a Path to Meaningful Community-Informed Quality Improvement
Facilitators: Radha Joseph, MD, MSc; Chantel Antone, RN, BScN, MPEd
Description: Meaningful improvement begins with understanding – truly hearing the experiences, needs, and priorities of the people and communities we serve. This interactive workshop focuses on the empathy and discovery stages of co-design with a focused example on how we might better engage Indigenous partners in quality improvement work. This foundational work sets the stage for shared understanding and problem definition. Participants will explore practical approaches to engaging people with lived experience early in the process, learn how to uncover insights that reflect what matters most to patients and communities, and discuss strategies for building trust and authentic partnerships. Real-world examples and hands-on exercises will illustrate how this early-stage engagement can shape more relevant, equitable, and sustainable quality improvement efforts.
Workshop C:
Title: Growing a QI Culture: Setting Your Projects Up for Success
Facilitators: Debbie Turner, MScHQ, BScN; Kat Taylor Jacobs, MSc, LSSBB
Description: Launching a successful QI initiative requires more than a good idea. It requires the right people, early alignment, and a clear understanding of how the local system works. This practical workshop is designed for improvers working on the ground in clinical settings. Participants will learn how to build a strong core team, meaningfully engage stakeholders, align projects with organizational priorities, and uncover hidden supporters who can unlock data, processes, and pathways. Through real examples and hands-on activities, attendees will gain concrete strategies for navigating local context, resourcing their project, and setting themselves up for early wins and long-term success.
